Displaying your Poster
Set up time to display your poster is on Tuesday 23rd October from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Hofburg, Vienna (directions will be sent in due course). On this Tuesday, poster presenters will need to register for the conference in the entrance of the Hofburg before gaining admittance. Then proceed to the poster desk, where you will be allocated a number and provided with fixing material to display your poster on the appropriately numbered poster board. The poster boards will look like this:
Posters are to be displayed for the full three days of the conference from 24 to 26 October. As the conference venue changes between day 2 and day 3, the organizers ask poster presenters to take down their posters after 16:00 on Thursday 25 October and bring it to Laxenburg on the third day by 10:00. If poster presenters are not attending the third day please take down the poster and leave it at the poster desk in the Hofburg on Thursday evening. On the final day, you can remove your posters between 17:00 and 18:00 on 26 October at Laxenburg. Any posters remaining after that time will be removed by the organizers who accept no responsibility for loss or damage.
Poster Sessions
The times of the poster sessions will be announced in due course. During the poster sessions, please stand by your posters for discussions and questions.
Printing Posters
IIASA has commissioned the company WEBGES to offer a poster printing service to poster presenters at its conference. The company offers a reasonably priced service to print your posters and have them ready for collection at the conference venue. The poster printing service can be accessed here. Alternatively, you may make your own arrangements to print your poster and bring it with you to the venue.
Poster Awards
Awards will be given to posters in the Closing Plenary of Day 3 of the conference. The awards are sponsored by Nature Climate Change and winners will receive an annual subscription to Nature Climate Change.
IIASA Posters
In order to present a consistent and professional image of IIASA, all staff from IIASA who produce a poster for the conference are asked to use the IIASA poster template. The template will be circulated at IIASA in due course.
How to Make a Good Poster
To ensure conference delegates can easily read posters, we recommend the following minimum point size of: 60 for the title, 50 for headings, and 25 for text. There is a lot of good advice on the Internet on how to make a good scientific poster such as:
Ten Simple Rules for a Good Poster Presentation by Thomas C Erren and Philip E Bourne
Academic Poster Design Advice
Do's and Don'ts of Poster Presentation by Steven M. Block of Princeton University
Displaying your Poster on the Conference Web site
Posters will also be displayed on the Conference Web site in order to maximize the readership of your poster. Please bring a soft copy (pdf) of your poster to the poster desk at the conference so we can upload it to our web site.
